Musings

Below is a collection of reflective writing I did during the pandemic.

MUSING #16 : Drained

MUSE: A meditative exercise my therapist talked me through when I became overwhelmed while reflecting on recent conversations with loved ones.

MUSING: a poem.

DRAINED

The words we share now contradict

the actions we’ve already taken

Promises of better days in hope

of outshining the pains of our past

A lack of understanding or clear vision

leading to confusion and disconnect

But we keep pulling words from our souls

Waiting for them to match

The more we pull the more they don't

and I am left consumed by doubt

Overwhelmed in misfitting possibilities

So I stop the conversation,

As simple as hanging up

And imagine the sky: Endless possibilities

My body remains tethered to emotions

As they grip my chest. Take a breath

Allow  winds to surge through me

pushing the Words Actions Promises

Reality Confusion Doubt

to pour from my mortal body

into my imagined sky

Leaving me drained of emotion

A cloud floating in the now
