Musings

Below is a collection of reflective writing I did during the pandemic.

MUSING #30 - COPPER!

MUSE: meeting Copper this weekend...

MUSING: Who is Copper? My new best friend of the canine variety! I have been applying to adopt a dog from many many months now (most of 2020) and was having no luck... I assume because of a combination of lots of people applying to adopt as they are home all the time, and the fact I don’t have a completely fenced yard. But finally my match has arrived. I saw his profile on petfinder on Friday and almost put the application off until the weekend. But something inside me said ‘no do it now!’ So I got it in and the next morning I heard from Bailey who’s fostering the handsome fella. We had a phone interview that afternoon, I met them on Sunday, and they chose me to adopt him!

From what I can tell, Copper is pretty damn perfect. He is an older guy at 9 years old. I wanted to adopt a senior dog as they are sadly overlooked by many people who prefer that puppy experience... personally I am no where near ready for a puppy. But having had many family dog’s growing up I feel confident I can care for an old soul like Copper. And he deserves all the love! He had been living with an older woman, but after she fell and broke her hip, her daughter took Copper. But, she apparently fosters dogs as well, and after some big dogs picked on and attacked Copper, she put him in the garage. For two years! Thankful he got access to the outside, but he was without a real home or companionship for years. Well, I am so honored and excited to give him the life he deserves. We’re gonna have outdoor adventures, cuddle times, chill writing hangouts, and lots of belly rubs! The fun can’t start yet, however, as the adoption organization must have him checked by a Vet in New Hampshire. But soon Claire and Copper shall be an unstoppable team! And by unstoppable I mean adorable :)
