Audiences enter the space as tourists to an underground historical site. When a collapse traps them below, the site becomes a space of reflection on the characters’ experiences with and innate views on Mental Health.

Using immersive and site-specific techniques, I developed a script format that can guide an ensemble through the production process for an interactive performance in a non-traditional theater space.

My hope is that this format can help show with fluid performances be published as scripts that can also be licensed for performance outside of the group that developed it.

The concept and music were developed in collaboration with producer Henry Harrod (Aitch Productions) and composer Josh Bird, and supported by RCSSD as part of my Advanced Theatre Practice MFA program.

I helped lead a week of workshopping at the Pleasance Theatre, which ended with a work-in-progress showing at the Brunel Museum in London, June 2018. The story and script for Below have been reworked since this 2018 performance, with hopes of workshopping the show in the near future.
