Musings

Below is a collection of reflective writing I did during the pandemic.

MUSING #1 - What is a Musing?

The word MUSE evokes an image of an ethereal person whose presence inspires great artists and thinkers to create work that can change the world. When considered as a verb, TO muse, the meaning shifts inwards, suggesting that a person inspires themselves to find clarity and creativity: to contemplate or meditate on your thoughts. When this word is conjugated to MUSING, this internal process shifts into a noun (meditation; contemplation; reflection) and adjective (absorbed in thought ; thoughtfully abstracted ; and even dreamy).

When I decided to start a weekly blog-of-sorts through my website, MUSINGS felt like the perfect word to title the series as I will be meditating on and writing reflectively about subjects that lay outside and within my realm of experience. These topics will include: Theater, Literature, Current Events, Mindfulness, Film/Television, Mental Health, Nature, and anything else that evokes the need to muse upon/write about/share with all who are willing to read and continue the cycle of contemplation. I want to use anything and everything as my Muse, therefore combining the external and internal process that the word inspires. I plan on making each post short in length, so they are easy to engage with. But truthfully, I have no idea how this series will evolve. And that is part of the beauty. I have no expectation behind my commitment to post something every Monday based on a topic that stimulates deep contemplation and written reflection. There is a chance that no one will read them, but if you are right now, I hope this post and the posts to come can inspire you to partake in some musing of your own.
